PRESS: Russia mulls raising oil, diesel fuel supplies to Cuba

MOSCOW, Jan 13 (PRIME) -- The Russian government is considering increasing oil and diesel fuel supplies to Cuba, business daily Vedomosti reported on Friday, citing a letter by Deputy Economic Development Minister Alexei Gruzdev to the government.

Gruzdev called Russian oil product supplies to Cuba “unsystematic.” From 2010–2015, the deliveries amounted to 17,100 tonnes worth U.S. $11.3 million and in January–November 2016, they amounted to 3,100 tonnes worth $740,000, according to data of the Federal Customs Service.

“In our point of view, a successful conclusion of negotiations on supplies of Russian hydrocarbons to Cuba will not only favor an increase in the trade turnover but will have a positive sociopolitical and humanitarian effect on the Russian–Cuban relations.”
